Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes

  • Store bought chocolate cake mix
  • 1 jar 10 oz. maraschino cherries
  • 4 TBS maraschino cherry juice
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 2 sticks butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar


  1. Preheat the oven to 350
  2. Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package using the baking time for cupcakes
  3. Cherry Buttercream Frosting
  4. Place butter into an electric mixer. Cream until light and fluffy
  5. Add 4 TBS. maraschino cherry juice
  6. Add 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  7. Slowly add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, and beat mixture together.
  8. Frost the cupcakes and add a maraschino cherry to the top of each one.
