A is for Alligator

My daughter started Pre-K last week and we are starting our weekly alphabet crafts. We started today with the letter “A” and will do one letter a week. I found this cute printable here.
Lindsy at Preschool Alphabet has some great resources for alphabet crafts.
We started by tracing the uppercase and lowercase letters. I printed out an extra sheet and placed it in a page protector so we can use a dry erase marker for practice later. I’m also starting an ABC binder and will place it in the binder. In 26 weeks, we will have a complete binder with all our tracing pages. I plan to use it next year when my son enters preschool.
We then made this alligator out of the letter “A”.
I cut out the “A” and let her cut out the triangles for the teeth. She has really improved with her cutting skills lately. I let her glue the googly eyes and teeth on.
Then we played a little game. I painted some clothespins green and glued googly eyes to them to represent an alligator.
I printed out these monkeys onto cardstock and put a small ball of playdoh on the back. You can also use sticky tack for posters. We stuck the monkeys to the table and sang this little rhyme:
Five little monkey swinging in a tree
Teasing Mr. Alligator, “Can’t catch me!”
Along comes Mr. Alligator, as quiet as can be
And SNAPS that monkey right out of that tree.
(Repeat with 4,3,2,1 monkeys)
Madison had fun “snapping” the monkeys off the table with the alligator clothespins. We played several of rounds of this game while little brother napped.

I absolutely adore your Alligator Game! Sooo cute! My preschooler is a huge fan of alligators and I know he would have so much fun with this!

Terrific idea! Actually, one of the only projects I can recall from Kindergarten is doing something very similiat to this….proof that it makes an impression on kids!
