These Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes are perfect for Valentine’s Day!
I am a lover of all things chocolate. Add cherries into the mix and I just can’t resist! This recipe uses a store bought cake mix and homemade frosting. Easy and tasty!
CHOCOLATE CHERRY CUPCAKES

Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes
Ingredients
- Store bought chocolate cake mix
- 1 jar 10 oz. maraschino cherries
- 4 TBS maraschino cherry juice
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 2 sticks butter softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350

Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package using the baking time for cupcakes

Cherry Buttercream Frosting

Place butter into an electric mixer. Cream until light and fluffy

Add 4 TBS. maraschino cherry juice

Add 1/4 tsp. almond extract

Slowly add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, and beat mixture together.

Frost the cupcakes and add a maraschino cherry to the top of each one.

The homemade frosting is so delicious! I’m a big fan of homemade frosting. Yes, it takes more time than just spooning some out of the tub but it tastes so much better.
These would be great to bring in for a class Valentine’s Day Party or to use for a February birthday party.
