Hooray! The unofficial summer kick-off is here. As spring melts into summer (literally), I change out my Spring decor for more summery items. The first thing I made this year is my DIY Patriotic Art. This project is so simple and if you make it early enough, it can do double duty for both Memorial Day AND July 4th. Just a heads up for next year.
The frame is from a company called Poppyseed Projects. I got it while I was at SNAP Conference and I painted it with Minwax Express Color in Indigo.
This paint was so easy to use. You just squirt it on and rub it in like a stain with a paper towel. Easy, right? It took no more than a minute to do. I painted it while at the conference during the Pajama Craft Party. Yes, a party where we crafted in our pajamas. Fun times were had by all.
The stars are felt and self adhesive. It just so happened that I had some red and white ones laying around.
I made the print using my Silhouette’s print and cut feature. I had never used this feature before and now that I realize how easy it is, I wish I would have tried it sooner. I downloaded the graphic from the Silhouette store for .99 cents. After downloading it, I resized it so it would fit my 5×7 frame. I printed it out on my printer and then fed it back into the Silhouette to cut it out. The Silhouette uses a special feature called registration marks to determine the exact place to cut. It’s pretty awesome and super easy.
After cutting out my image, I adhered it to some blue card stock and placed it into my frame.
And Voila! Instant home decor that I can display for the next few months. I’m so excited to add this to my new summer mantel.
