Everyone wants to save more money, right?  Well, maybe everyone KNOWS that they should save more money but many people just don’t know HOW to do it.  I’m here to show you an easy way that you can save over $1300 in one year!  That’s a big chunk of change and I’m here to show you that it IS do-able.

This plan is called the 52 Week Saving Plan and yes, you guessed it… you are going to save money EVERY.SINGLE.WEEK for an entire year.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN SAVE MONEY EASILY

There are 52 weeks in a year, so the first week, you are going to put 52 dollars into your savings account. The next week, you’re going to put 51 dollars in, the next week 50 dollars goes in. And so on and so on until the last month you’ll be down to putting in 4,3,2 and 1 dollars.

The thing I like about this plan is that you get the hard work done in the first few months. If you can get through the first month, I feel like you can make it to the end of the year. The best way to do this is to automate the process. Set up a direct transfer to your savings account for each amount.  So you will be setting up 52 transfers.

$1300 may sound like a lot to some of you and it may sound like not a lot at all to some of you.  It all depends on what your current financial situation is.  If you are used to saving money, this plan may come easy to you.  If you have never saved a penny before, this may seem daunting. The amount of savings the first month comes out to $202.00. Every month after that, the amount that you need to save gets less and less. Can you find an extra $202.00 in your budget?

And if you’ve already done the math, it’s actually a little over $1300.  $1378 to be exact. But I didn’t want to round up and mislead you with $1400 so I rounded down and you end up with a little bonus.

It may take some sacrifices to find that extra money every month but think of it this way: would you be willing to give up a few dinners out or downgrade your tv package to have enough money for car repairs so you wouldn’t have to use a credit card? I would.

$1300 is a great amount to start an emergency fund. Our emergency fund has saved us so many times in the past year when paying for things such as car repairs and medical bills. So do you think that you can find the money to save over $1300 in a year? I’ve created a simple printable so you can track your progress.
