I’m in love with chalkboards. I would paint my entire house chalkboard with paint if I could but I don’t really think my landlord would go for that. And having to repaint over all those black walls with high ceilings is just not in my plan and is a definite no. So I add chalkboards to me house in other ways. I shared this project over at Seven Thirty Three last month but just in case you missed it, I’m sharing my DIY Chalkboard Letters with you today.
This project is very easy and quick but it adds so much to a room. I’m all about the quick and easy projects. You need wooden letters and chalkboard paint. You can get both of these supplies at your local craft store.
The letters that I used were already pre-painted white but the plain wooden ones will work too.
There are two steps to this project… Paint the letters with your chalkboard paint and then use chalk to decorate them however you wish.
I used 3M Command strips to attach the letters to the wall above my window. These strips are a must-have for any decorating project. I use them to hang just about everything.
Here is what my window looked like without the letters. This was also before I added the Faux Roman Shade.
And here it is with them.
I think they add just the right touch to my kitchen.
These would be great in a playroom too. You could do the whole alphabet around the room as a border or place them all over one wall.
