I’m so excited to introduce you to a new monthly event at Here Comes the Sun. In April, I went to SNAP Conference, a conference for creative bloggers. I met some amazingly talented ladies and a few of us have joined together to bring you a monthly blog hop with themed posts each month. This month, we are kicking it off with posts all about SUMMER.
For my Summer project, I made a Mason Jar Beach Decor.
How many of you head to the beach for your summer vacation? We live near the beach so we usually go to the mountains for our vacation but we have no shortage of seashells at our house. We come home with bucketfulls every time we visit the beach. I like to display them in my summer decor and decided to combine them with one of my favorite items… a blue mason jar. This blue mason jar is original from way back in the day. You can buy them at craft stores but the new ones that are out now just don’t look quite like the old ones. You can find the vintage jars at thrift stores. I snagged mine from my parents’ house.
I filled my jar with shells, wrapped some jute around the jar and tied a starfish on. The starfish came from the craft store… I’m not lucky enough the find one of those on the beach.
If you are using this as a summer vacation memento, add some sand and maybe some tickets from that boardwalk arcade. A vacation picture inside the jar would look great too. I placed mine on my summer themed mantel along with my DIY Wooden Sign and my Mod Podge Nautical Map Monogram.
