I don’t know what the weather is like where you are but it was HOT yesterday. Like 90 degrees hot. I’m not sure where Spring went but it definitely did not stick around long. I’m not complaining though. I love summer and I love summery drinks. So I whipped up this mixed berry smoothie for an after school snack yesterday. The kids guzzled it down.
Smoothies are very easy to make and I like that you can experiment with different flavor combos. I chose a basic 2 berry mix of blueberries and strawberries. The key to getting a frothy smoothie (perfect for a summer day) is using frozen fruit.

Mixed Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- Frozen strawberries 1/2 bag
- Blueberries a few handfuls
- Vanilla yogurt about 1/2 of a large container
- 1-2 tsps. honey
Instructions
-
Let the strawberries thaw for approximately 15-30 minutes. You don't want them completely thawed because you want your smoothie to be frothy
-
Place all items in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
-
This recipe makes 1 mason jar full
You can see that I don’t have exact measurements for this recipe. Smoothies are great for this because you can adjust everything to your taste and there is really no way to mess it up. Want a little bit more yogurt? Go ahead and add it! Want more or less fruit? Yep, you can do that and I promise you’ll still come out with a great tasting drink.
