Are you busy counting down the days until Christmas? Every year I mean to make an advent calender with lots of activities for the kiddos. And then I just never get around to it. But this year, I DID!
Here is what you will need:
Decorative paper bags or paper
Decorative scissors
White cardstock
Paperclips
Marker
I used these paper liners from Wilton only because I did not order the cute bags in time from Pick Your Plum. You know, the ones with the red chevrons. Yeah, I missed those so I improvised and created bags out of these treat box liners.
Fold the paper in half and then in half again. Open up and cut on the fold.
I used my decorative scissors on the top to make a pretty scallop design.
Cut squares of white cardstock using your decorative scissors and write the numbers 1-24 on them and adhere them to your bags.
Attach the bags to the wall with double sided tape made especially for walls. We used Scotch brand but you could use 3M too.
Hold the front and back of the bag together with a paperclip. I was going to glue the sides of each bag together but decided not to. You can slip a piece of paper in there and it won’t fall out even when the sides are not glued.
In addition to daily Christmas activities, I have added a little something to teach the kids about the real reason for Christmas. We divided up the Christmas Story into 24 parts and paraphrased each bible verse. We will read one verse per day and by the time we get to Christmas, we will have read the entire story of Jesus’s birth.
Don’t worry if you are thinking…”It’s already December 6. I can’t start this now!” You can! Instead of counting down 25 days, you can do 12.
What types of activities are you doing to celebrate the season?

Cute pockets! I’m impressed with how perfectly straight you hung them up.
